J.K.
Lamkin - Growing up in the Southwest, Ms. Lamkin formed a very
special relationship with the land and its people, its plant life
and adobe structures. She studied in Colorado at Adams State College,
the University of Colorado and Arapahoe Community College with contemporaries
Zoltan Sabo, Bill Alexander and Eric Girard.
A colorist, Lamkin
explores the constantly changing dimensions of the external world
with an intense, personal response. "I was driven by the landscape,
but I wanted my own kind of expression, something that would reflect
spiritual and emotional searches," she says. Her depth of vision
materializes in beautifully simplified, universal shapes which are
easily identified. To Lamkin, each object possesses an energy that
removes it from the ordinary plane.
