"Art
is simplification. The greater the simplification, the more likely
the artist is to draw upon her intuitive creativity, thereby expressing
emotions too subtle for words. The emotion of my subject is most
important. Whatever my medium, I want the viewer to be spellbound.
That's the ultimate achievement", says Rosie Sandifer.
Well established
as a painter and sculptor, Sandifer struggled for many years to
balance her time between being a professional artist and mother.
Many of her early sculpture commissions were portraits of prominent
individuals. Eventually she began to draw from the world around
her for subject matter children playing, reading and dancing. Some
of her most successful works have been studies of her own children
and their friends.
Participating in
more that 80 exhibitions / shows, Rosie has received awards from
the American Artists Professional League in New York, the Medal
of Honor for Sculpture, the Solo Award from the Pen & Brush
in New York, and the National Sculpture Society, the John Cavanaugh
Memorial Prize in New York. She is a member of the American Artists
Professional League and the National Sculpture Society. Her bronzes
are included in public collections at Texas Tech University, Benson
Park Sculpture Garden in Loveland, Colorado and Brookgreen Gardens
in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina among others.
